chocolate experimentation

I'm experimenting with a new medium... Chocolate! I stumbled upon this great book at the Library- Whimsical Bake House by Liv Hansen- she is now new cake maker obsession... She is awesome and is so creative. I'm now subscribed to her blog so I can read what she is doing- http://whimsicalbakehouse.blogspot.com/

This was my first attempt with chocolate- I went to a pre-fourth of July picnic and made cupcakes for the kids (and adults). They turned out o.k. but I have a long way to go in learning how to paint with chocolate... I made red velvet cupcakes in two sizes- regular and tiny. I covered the tiny ones with purple and green sprinkles (or Jimmies). Covered cupcakes in buttercream icing. Essentially I traced a design using different colors of melted white chocolate to make the bugs and insects.

Here are my nieces enjoying their cupcakes...

The end of an era...

The study that I work on is ending. It was a busy week with cakes and parties to celebrate our many accomplishments. The "peace out" cake was for our last final staff meeting. The Thank you cake was for the food service staff that I've worked with for the last three years that made our study a success. I enjoyed working with everyone and will miss my weekly visits!

Cake Stats

Here are the numbers for the first year of my counter. It is so cool. It counts the number of visitors each day and then plots the IP addresses across the world. Granted, I'm not that popular in Asia but Europe has my back...
The counter is going to reset in a few days. Here are pics from year one...
